Union Fires Worker for Wearing ‘Bush’ Sweat Shirt

On October 24, 2010, in Corruption, Unions Revealed, by Warner Todd Huston

This one should raise your temperature. The stagehand union in California fired one of its members from a job because he was wearing a ballcap and a sweatshirt with the name of his son’s Naval vessel on them. Why did they fire him? Because his son serves aboard the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush.

Duane Hammond went to work on the morning of Oct. 22 wearing the apparel with his son’s ship on it and right away to got to work like he normally does. But after a short time on the job, his supervisor decided that he didn’t like Hammond’s navy shirt and hat and after Hammond refused to take them off the supervisor fired him on the spot.

At first the union stonewalled any efforts of the media to find out what was going on. Later in the week, though, the union apologized to Hammond.

The apology doesn’t matter, though. This should never have happened in the first place. It does serve to prove the totalitarian, anti-American attitude endemic in American unions.

    Dear Warner T. Huston,

I am presenting looking for a Huston family who used to live on 116th Lawler, Alsip, IL. This family consisted of two great parents, two girls and one boy. They arrived from Ohio and made a great impression in our little town. It was a sad day when they left our community. I am trying to reconnect with this family because the mother, Arlene, was a dear friend who has left many memorable memories. I have tried every way possible to make contact with her including an old friend, Ed Jablonski, but no one has her present address. I noticed the resemblance between your picture and her. I am hoping that you are the missing son and will be able to provide me with some information regarding your parents.
Please, if possible, let me know if all is well.
    Sincerely,
    Barb Doot

  2. Hey, Barb. I remember you. Yes, it’s me (the “and one boy” you mention above). Email me at igcolonel@hotmail.com
